Research confirms that the first five years of a child’s life are fundamentally important and form the foundation that shapes a child’s growth and development, confidence, happiness, and learning achievements at school. At Mustard Seed Children’s Academy, we have designed our program to nurture each child and guide them through these early sensitive and formative years.
Our Approach
Our program takes on a holistic approach to learning which encourages strong foundations academically, socially, and morally for children in our care. We ensure that they are adequately equipped with great values and a healthy self-image.
We use a combination of Creative Curriculum, Adventures in Learning, and Kids of Integrity to put together a STEAM-based approach. We cover science, technology, engineering, art, and math, along with a strong basis in language and literature. Kids of Integrity is our character-building program which helps to teach children skills.
Adventures in Learning
Adventures in Learning is a comprehensive curriculum for children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. It was developed and revised through contracts with the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education. The curriculum features 40 topics of study in nine focus areas. Each topic is introduced with familiar children’s books and has a strong language and literacy emphasis to help children build the foundations for future learning.
Kids of Integrity
Kids of Integrity is a set of lesson plans designed to instill Christ-honoring character traits in children aged three to ten. Using Bible stories and fun activities, each lesson teaches children about and helps to develop important traits such as compassion, generosity, honesty, patience, and responsibility, among others.
This is an important part of our curriculum as we believe developing such traits not only gives children a foundational understanding but also gives them skills and values which will ultimately help them throughout their lives.

Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies
The Creative Curriculum is research-based and has been carefully designed to support the development of the whole child. The aim is to grow their social and emotional skills alongside their academic understanding and promote their confidence both within and outside of a learning setting. With the Creative Curriculum, children learn in the context of everyday play, giving them the skills to apply the same learning to everyday experiences later in life.
Assessments
Being an academic institution, it is important for us to help children develop the skills appropriate for their age. In order to monitor and track the development of each child in our care, our teachers use weekly observations which include written records and photos, as well as physical evidence such as examples of their work.
We hold parent-teacher conferences once per semester to share feedback on your child’s development. You are welcome to ask us for feedback or a meeting at any time.
Extra-Curricular
We provide fun extracurricular activities which occasionally take place outside of the classroom, as well as having guest speakers, storytellers, and Special visitors visit the preschool, including the Fire Department, Jitterbugs, Spanish and Mad Science.
Our summer school and summer camp begins the week after Bentonville Public School closes and runs until mid-August. Summer School is typically an eleven-week long program, incorporating lots of fun learning activities for our regular students, whilst Summer Camp is for school-age children (K-5th grade).
Parental Involvement
The best programs have been proven to be those with parents’ participation and involvement. Our newsletters, calendar of events, progress reports, and daily interactions between teachers and parents help us to grow this relationship, and we encourage parents to be actively involved with our academy as much as possible. Each of our classrooms is also equipped with a tablet where parents and teachers can communicate in real-time through “Daily Connect”.
Security and Safety
We care for every child as if they are our own, and we take every measure to ensure they are protected. We have a double security system in place; a pin-code is required to access the building, while a biometric fingerprint of a parent/carer is needed to gain access into the classroom area. Our facility also features high definition cameras throughout the building and voice evacuation fire alarm system.
